Last year, in our school's 4x100m relay final, our third runner accidentally dropped the baton. We were falling behind. For a moment, we felt very disappointed. But we quickly encouraged each other, he picked it up fast, and I, as the last runner, ran with all my strength. In the end, we still won the championship. The biggest challenge was not giving up when we made a mistake. "Thank you. To find the total number of squares in a 3x3 grid, I will count them systematically by their size. This is a method I learned from my Math Olympiad training. First, I count the smallest squares, the 1x1 squares. There are 3 rows and 3 columns, so there are 3 x 3 = 9 of these squares. Second, I count the 2x2 squares. I can find two of them in the top two rows, and two of them in the bottom two rows. So there are 2 x 2 = 4 of these squares. Third, I count the largest square, which is the 3x3 grid itself. There is only 1 of this. Finally, I add them all up: 9 + 4 + 1 = 14. So, there are a total of 14 squares in a 3x3 grid."

But it also comes with the responsibility to be safe and check my equipment carefully. Similarly, learning Japanese on my own requires the freedom to set my own pace, but also the responsibility to be disciplined and practice every day.
